Facing the prospect of landing behind bars, Najib Abdul Razak recited the sumpah mubahalah oath at the Kampung Baru mosque in Kuala Lumpur this evening.
The former premier said he took the oath to clear his and his parents’ names.
In his oath, Najib claimed that he did not realise that the RM42 million that had been transferred to his account came from SRC International Bhd.
“I, Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, having fought for my justice on this earth, recite my oath.
“I have never, at any time, known about the RM42 million sum that came from SRC. I never agreed to establish SRC for the purpose of taking any funds for personal or filial use.
“I have never ordered any of the company’s directors to misappropriate funds into my own bank account for any reason whatsoever,” he said.
Najib also claimed that he was not involved in the cabinet meeting which approved the RM4 billion loan from the Retirement Fund (KWAP) to SRC.

Before ending his oath, the former premier reiterated his preparedness for divine punishment if he was lying.
"If I lie on my oath, oh Allah...then it is permissible for me to be cursed (laknat).
"On the other hand, if all these are fabricated by my political enemies, then I pray for a curse to befall them and on all those in collusion with them," he said.
Najib arrived at the mosque before the Isyak prayer time together with his son, several political figures and supporters.
On Dec 20, 2019, Najib recited the sumpah laknat (a similar oath) at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru to deny his involvement in the SRC scandal.
On July 28 2020, he recited the sumpah laknat in front of trial judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali when given the chance to speak during the proceedings at the High Court.
Najib once again recited the sumpah laknat on Dec 8, 2021 to deny the abuse of power, breach of trust and money laundering charges.
The former premier is in the process of exhausting his final appeal with the Federal Court to overturn his conviction and 12-year prison sentence.
